Some years ago, Millennia conducted interviews with 24 philanthropic leaders about economic development and foundation roles for our client Robert Giloth, Vice President of the Center for Economic Opportunity at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore. This work is referenced in Giloth’s recently published article in the Economic Development Quarterly. The article entitled Philanthropy and Economic Development: New Roles and Strategies discusses philanthropic investments in economic development around the country. The study features examples of how foundations have used grants, technical assistance, program related investments, policy advocacy, and civic leadership to advance economic development goals.
