Like its colleagues in charitable foundations all over the country, ILCHF wrestles with the central conundrum of philanthropy: how to apply available financial resources, which are always severely limited, compared to need, to achieve maximum impact in improving systems and outcomes? Millennia sought to help the Foundation solicit meaningful ideas from a large group in technical and complex topic areas in a short period of time.
Millennia’s Approach
Millennia worked with ILCHF staff to summarize their relevant work to date, and to contextualize it within key evidence-based strategies for improving the delivery of children's oral and mental health services in Illinois and nationally. The firm developed an agenda for the day, as well as a number of background documents, and developed a facilitation strategy that enabled maximum participation from the experts in a minimum amount of time.
Client Benefit
The meeting was well received by both the participants and the Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation. After the meeting, Millennia prepared a 30-page report for ILCHF, which categorized and summarized the experts' suggestions and proposed recommendations for further action by the Foundation.
