David Steven Rappoport  
     

 

David Steven Rappoport is a non-profit professional with more than 25 years of leadership and consulting experience in health care, housing and other mission areas. His expertise includes systems change consulting and leadership, program development, facilitation and training, relationship management, funding and grantwriting, board development and relations, and project and operations management.

As the Senior Program Officer of Maine's largest health care foundation, the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF), David designed the initial grantmaking processes for the Foundation. He subsequently managed grantmaking for more than 288 awards totaling $21,198,000, and managed a number of evaluation efforts. His work at MeHAF also involved significant health care systems change, as well as building and managing relationships. For example, he developed and led a statewide initiative with 65 stakeholders to move toward the integration of Maine's primary care and behavioral health systems.

Earlier in his professional life, David played a key role in successful applications for more than $30,000,000 in grants from private and corporate foundations and federal and state agencies. As a principal of Development Solutions Group, a small consulting firm which he co-founded, he worked with clients in thirteen states to develop programs, and wrote applications to HUD, HRSA, NIH and other federal agencies.

As an administrator of community-based AIDS clinical trials, David managed multi-million dollar research contracts, and provided day-to-day management of the host organization. Previously, he served as an administrator in a public hospital.

David has extensive experience as a trainer and facilitator in grant writing, fundraising, and change management.

He holds an M.S. in Management from Antioch New England Graduate School, and an M.A. in writing and literature from Goddard College.
